Ask An Expert

I'm a junior in high school and know where I want to go. How early can I send in my applications?

You should call your college and ask if they have an early enrollment program. This is for strong juniors who want to skip their senior year of high school and begin college immediately.  If you want to take advantage of this unique program, you need to make sure that you have fulfilled your high school’s graduation requirements as well as your standardized testing.

Otherwise, colleges usually start accepting applications after Labor Day. If you are anxious to complete your application in your senior year, make sure you use the most up to date application. Also, it sounds like you’ll be an excellent candidate to take advantage of Early Decision/Action/Notification. These early application programs are explained here and here at applywise.com).  Keep in mind that sending in an application way before the allotted deadline does not give you any special priority, unless your school has a rolling admissions program.
