Ask An Expert

I did an early application, but was rejected. Do I have to send in another application to be considered for regular admission?

If you applied early and you were denied admission,  you cannot reapply for that year. So you do not submit another application to that particular college.

Although it is not a common practice, colleges are increasing the number of early applicants they deny. Although it is tough to receive a denial letter in late December, keep the big picture in mind:  this allows a student to focus on second and third choices.

If you were rejected early but still want to attend that school, you must reapply next year.  Before you do, find ways to improve your application.   Having a conversation with your counselor about the options available to you as a re-applicant will allow you to put your best foot forward.
